About MAdeA

Our Vision

Through education, advocacy and economic empowerment, MAdeA combats domestic violence and sexual assault in Tanzanian's poorest communities.

Our Activities

  • Training on the issues of sexual assault and domestic violence
  • Women's safety programs
  • Micro grants and training to women to fund entrepreneurial activities
  • School fees to keep young girls in school and out of prostitution
  • Education on HIV/AIDS, condom use and other reproductive health issues

Areas of Operation

Currently, MAdeA is providing service and programs in the following regions; Dar es Salaam, Pwani and Morogoro. The people we work with live in extreme poverty, typically earning less than $1 per day.

Our experiences and capacity.
We are a grass roots, community based organization with a strong commitment to supporting women and children who are living below the poverty line in Tanzania. We have experience dealing with gender-based violence and helping the most vulnerable women and children.

Since 2000, we have implemented more than 15 different projects in addition to our day-to-day role in assisting victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. We also provide training on a regular basis to young girls and women on essential life skills. We have 5 full time staff who currently work as volunteers.
